Privacy policy

AI Visibility ("the app") is made by RYDEE. This policy explains what data the app uses when a Shopify merchant installs it, and what happens with it. Questions: hi@tomderuiter.com.

Data from your store

Through Shopify's API, the app reads:

your shop's name, description, domain, languages, contact email, country and published policies;
products, collections, pages, blogs and blog posts: titles, handles, texts, prices, availability, images and barcodes;
your navigation menus and URL redirects (it adds one redirect, for the IndexNow key file);
aggregated visits and orders per referring website from Shopify's reports, to show traffic from AI assistants.

On our server in the European Union (Germany) the app stores your shop domain, the access token Shopify gives it, your settings, a fingerprint and title of each page (to detect changes), the generated llms.txt files, a log of IndexNow submissions, the monitor's questions and the AI answers to them, and daily counts of requests to the app's files by type of visitor (user-agent category only).

Data about your customers

The app doesn't collect or store personal data of your customers. The traffic report shows totals per referring website that Shopify computes; the app doesn't receive individual visits or orders, and keeps no copy of the report beyond an hour's cache.

Sharing

We don't sell data. To do its work the app sends:

the URLs of changed public pages of your store to IndexNow (api.indexnow.org), which shares them with participating search engines;
the monitor's questions (which you can see and edit) to the AI providers turned on for the app (OpenAI, Perplexity, Anthropic). No store data beyond those questions is sent.

Besides these and Shopify, only the hosting of our server processes the data described above.

Retention and deletion

When you uninstall the app we delete the access token right away, and everything else about your store 48 hours later, when Shopify asks us to. The llms.txt template the app wrote to your theme stays until you delete it (Online Store → Themes → Edit code → templates/llms.txt.liquid); the URL redirect for the key file can be deleted under Online Store → Navigation → URL redirects. Customer data requests from Shopify are answered with "no data held", because the app holds none.

You can ask us which data we hold about your store, and to correct or delete it, by emailing hi@tomderuiter.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
